Responsible use of AI
We consider Artificial Intelligence and digital technologies as drivers of sustainable innovation, to be developed and used responsibly, transparently and in full respect of fundamental human rights.
Responsible use of AI: Principles, Rules, and Governance Oversight
Banca Generali promotes the use of Artificial Intelligence based on transparency, fairness, security and non-discrimination, in line with Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 on Artificial Intelligence (AI Act). More broadly, the Bank seeks to align its digital practices with the broader European digital regulatory framework, operating in line with the principles of Digital Omnibus.
The Bank is committed to ensuring that data and algorithms are transparent and explainable, providing customers and stakeholders with clear and meaningful information on how AI-supported processes operate, thereby enabling informed decision-making. Banca Generali also promotes equity, diversity and inclusion by preventing discriminatory outcomes and mitigating potential biases in the use and/or development of AI. Particular attention is given to ensuring the safety and security of AI systems, preventing unintended or unforeseen adverse impacts and safeguarding the rights and interests of individuals.
The Bank also ensures the proper and responsible use of AI tools in full compliance with the internal regulatory framework and the governance safeguards adopted, including the Internal Code of Conduct and policies on personal data protection and cybersecurity.
In 2025, the Bank adopted the Internal Guidelines on the management of Artificial Intelligence, aimed at governing the adoption and management of AI initiatives through a dedicated governance model. The Guidelines define the principles, processes, roles and responsibilities of the actors involved, ensuring effective oversight throughout the entire life cycle of AI solutions. The governance model also ensures appropriate human oversight and control over AI systems, supported by robust governance mechanisms designed to mitigate operational risks associated with the use of data and algorithms and to promote the continuous development of employees’ skills and competencies.
Furthermore, the Guidelines provide a clear definition of Artificial Intelligence, identify the technologies and models falling within their scope of application, as well as the solutions that, due to their characteristics and operating methods, are excluded from it.

Our Risk Management Approach
Each AI solution is subject to specific risk assessment and management processes, coordinated by dedicated responsible figures and carried out with the involvement of the relevant corporate functions. Where risks are identified, appropriate mitigation measures are defined and implemented or, where applicable, specific escalation processes are activated.
Periodic monitoring of performance ensures the availability of the information needed to understand the purposes, functioning, outcomes and risk profile of Artificial Intelligence initiatives, including the rationale behind relevant AI-generated outputs or decisions.
This governance model helps prevent manipulative, discriminatory or otherwise harmful practices that may affect fundamental rights of individuals (e.g. privacy, dignity) and non-discrimination principles.
Artificial Intelligence applications can support several areas of activity, including:
- Product and service development, by enabling the personalization of offerings based on data analysis;
- Risk assessment and support for decision-making processes, through advanced analytical models, applied under a robust governance framework to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (such as GDPR) and to prevent bias, discrimination and unfair outcomes.
- Customer assistance, through chatbots and virtual assistants capable of providing rapid and effective support;
- Automation of internal processes, through technologies that facilitate the extraction and analysis of information contained in documents.
AI applications are limited to their approved purpose and scope, with controls to prevent unauthorised or unintended use.
