After a ten-stop tour of Italy, the 2012 edition of the initiative Banca Generali – Un Campione per Amico ended in Salerno on Friday 31 May. The extraordinary event, aimed at spreading the values of sport among the very young, was expanded this year to include sponsorship of the Paralympic Committee and met with great success among participants and the media. Sport seen as the embodiment of will, determination, respect for others, integration and a sense of belonging, without borders. This, in short, is the sense of the Banca Generali event Un Campione per Amico, which won a place on the publics heart once more this year. Over 10,000 children, regardless of their abilities, have fully experienced the feeling of being trained for a day by four great champions: Adriano Panatta, Andrea Lucchetta, Jury Chechi and Francesco Graziani. The event was set against the backdrop of ten splendid Italian squares (Catania on 18 April, Florence on 27 April, Rome on 4 May, Ancona on 9 May, Pescara on 11 May, Savona on 16 May, Pavia on 18 May, Udine on 23 May, Vicenza on 25 May and Salerno on 31 May), where there was never any lack of support from local administrations, starting with the presence of Mayors and the media. The enthusiasm of the public and participants helped make for an even more exceptional event this year, when the initiative was proud to sponsor the Italian Paralympic Committee by virtue of the involvement of various local non-profits and a champion Paralympics athlete during each stage. Thousands of children thus were able to embark on a path in which they became familiar with the fundamental values of sport and learned, most importantly, not to set limits on their dreams.
